We are thrilled to have been able to witness the 60th running of the Daytona 500 this past weekend! And, we have so much to share.
This time around, Dale Earnhardt Jr. returned to the speedway – not to race, but to act as the Grand Marshal. We were also able to enjoy Rascal Flatts’ pre-race performance.
Emotionally-fueled, this race marked Danica Patrick’s final NASCAR race as well. The event concluded with Austin Dillon’s win.
As the official outdoor display provider of the Daytona International Speedway®, we were ecstatic to be a part of such an exciting event, surrounded by over 800 of our outdoor displays.
Our story with DIS begins in 2013 when the speedway embarked on its DAYTONA® Rising redevelopment project. While DIS was looking for a wide range of technology solutions to support the project, a key emphasis was placed on the need for outdoor, weatherproof displays.
Our digital displays have made the impossible possible – fans never have to miss a minute of the action, no matter where they are in the speedway. And, we certainly didn’t!
DIS utilized two Xtreme™ Outdoor Daylight Readable Display models that addressed all of its needs, with features including: sleek aesthetics, weather resistance, clarity, brightness, no maintenance, and versatility.
Peerless-AV’s IP68-rated outdoor displays’ fully-sealed, weatherproof design completely seals all internal components, including cable entry, to provide the utmost protection against outdoor elements in temperatures ranging from -40°F to 140°F.
This design also ensures the displays are free of vents and filters, creating a maintenance-free solution.
The displays’ polarization and optic bonding adjusts the screens’ brightness based on the surrounding conditions, creates superior contrast, and allows for perfect visibility even with polarized sunglasses on.
This year’s DAYTONA 500 continued our tradition of enhancing visitors’ viewing experiences, no matter where in the speedway they may be.
With so much action surrounding this year’s event, what part will you remember the 2018 race by?
