This is one of our favorite times of year at Peerless-AV. As AV experts, we are always keen on checking out holiday digital signage, light displays, and all festive uses of technology.
The applications we most easily and fondly remember are often holiday-themed storefronts and displays.
While we enjoy reminiscing about nostalgic holiday moments, the AV professional inside us all often leads us to think about the behind the scenes integration of the displays and how these displays help evoke the holiday spirit. Here are some of our favorite and most magical storefronts of 2018.
Saks Fifth Avenue
Once again, Saks Fifth Avenue’s holiday window display and light show has made our list. This year’s, entitled “Theater of Dreams,” is Broadway-themed. The unveiling event’s one-of-a-kind opening number featured 124 Broadway dancers! Take a look here: https://www.saksfifthavenue.com/editorial/events/holiday_live.jsp
Comcast’s Holiday Spectacular
The Comcast Center, one of the tallest skyscrapers in Philadelphia, is celebrating its tenth holiday celebration this year. Here visitors can view sights and sounds of the season with a musical journey that features classic favorites in addition to clips of The Nutcracker performed by the Pennsylvania Ballet. From magical sleigh rides to views of the city skyline, the show is something to see – the display used is even one of the largest high-resolution displays, spanning 83 feet wide.
Macy’s Herald Square
Macy’s has gone modern this year! The 2018 display, entitled “Believe In The Wonder Of Giving,” features a new main star, Sunny the Snowpal. The showcase includes an interactive game that allows visitors to try to help Sunny catch up with Santa’s sleigh! Sunny’s story is one of friendship, family, adventure, and teamwork as she works to save Christmas with the help of her friends.
Henri Bendel
This year’s window displays are a collaboration between longtime fashion illustrator, Izak Zenou, to create a New York skyline, and artist Shinji Murakami, who developed retro gaming-inspired panels for the windows. After 123 years, this will be the brand’s very last holiday celebration.
