Cleveland Museum of Art dvLED display

Case Study Overview: The Cleveland Museum of

Art

The Cleveland Museum of Art, home to more than 63,000 artworks, is located in the heart of Cleveland’s University Circle. As part of an effort to modernize the visitor experience, the museum recently introduced advanced dvLED technology throughout the space, with a special focus on its Renaissance exhibition. This digital enhancement provides a more immersive way for guests to engage with the collection.

This exhibition features masterpieces from the fifteenth and sixteenth-century Italian painter, “Pinturicchio.” The implementation of display and mounting technology showcasing different art pieces at the museum can allow onlookers to explore the intricate details of paintings as if under a microscope.

To bring the exhibition to life, two dvLED video walls were installed using Peerless-AV’s SEAMLESS Connect Universal dvLED mounting systems. The first wall is located in the Horace Kelley Art Foundation Lobby. It measures 20 feet wide by 6.7 feet tall and displays rotating content and museum highlights. The second wall, built into a custom room in the exhibition space, is a 10-by-10-foot installation that supports interactive storytelling for the Virgin and Child exhibit. The mounted display is so seamless that it evokes an appearance inclining visitors to view it as a piece of art itself.

Working closely with Zenith Systems and Planar, Peerless-AV delivered a solution that met the museum’s exacting standards for alignment, reliability, and visual quality. Installation was completed quickly and seamlessly while construction was still ongoing.

After just a few weeks, the result is a transformative digital experience. It helps the Cleveland Museum of Art bring historical artwork into their museum for all to see. With its modern presentation tools and enhanced educational value, the museum now engages visitors in new and meaningful ways. Peerless-AV’s mounting solutions played a critical role in creating a display that is both structurally sound and visually stunning. This project reflects how technology can come together with art to elevate storytelling in all sorts of different institutions.
