Case study BigFoot Java

BigFoot Java®, a specialty coffee chain in the Pacific Northwest, wanted to offer its customers a more immersive drive-thru experience. The process resulted in a plan to implement Peerless-AV® Outdoor Digital Menu Boards (DMBs) for their 24/7, double-sided drive-thrus. The stores were equipped with double LED DMB kiosks for their high-traffic industrial and urban area locations.

When the conversations began, BigFoot Java hadn’t updated its drive-thru menu boards for over three years due to the time and labor required. The original static boards took up to two months to update and needed technicians for installation. As the chain expanded across Washington, it became increasingly difficult to manually adjust the menus to keep up with market changes and labor shortages.

Peerless-AV’s Outdoor Digital Menu Boards (DMBs) allow 24/7 operation, weatherproofing, and integration with cloud-based CMS to edit content remotely, such as seasonal items, pricing, and available products.

The Outdoor DMBs also provide durability and cost-effectiveness with all-weather protection, offering an IP66-rated design that safeguards against water, dust, and insects. These menu boards feature optically bonded glass for glare reduction and 2500 nits of brightness with automatic light adjustments. These displays ensure readability in direct sunlight and high ambient lighting conditions, making them ideal for various climates.

The installation process included pre-digging for cement pads behind existing static boards to maintain uninterrupted service, with each installation completed in a day. The new DMBs eliminate the need for costly printed updates, enhance the drive-thru’s appearance, and improve security and customer satisfaction with their bright, clear displays.
